Dear Runners,
Imagine if your mom or dad filled their car up with soda and cheese puffs instead of gasoline. Forget getting to school, you wouldn't even make it around the block! Did you know the same thing happens with your bodies if you try to put the wrong type of fuel in them before you run, walk or ride your bike? It's important to put food into your body that gives you energy so you can move and feel your best each and everyday but especially when you are in training.
Be sure to eat three good meals each day that include fruits, vegetables and snacks that provide you with good energy. Did you also know the food that provides fuel for your body can taste good too? Fun finger foods like cheese, yogurt, pretzels, crackers, peanut butter, carrots or sliced fruit make a delicious and quick afternoon snack. Or ask your mom or dad if you can make the quick and delicious Energy Bar recipe below. These are a great treat after school and will help you run like a cheetah, jump like a kangaroo and swim like a dolphin!
ENERGY BOOST BERRY & OAT BARS
